Key Responsibilities
- Steer and contribute to mechanical engineering design on building and infrastructure projects spanning commercial, residential, healthcare, industrial and other developments
- Produce detailed mechanical designs together with calculations, specifications, reports and the documentation behind them
- Carry engineering assignments through design, coordination and delivery to completion, keeping an eye on deliverables, deadlines, technical requirements and overall quality
- Analyse what each project needs from an engineering perspective and shape effective technical solutions
- Integrate mechanical services with the architectural, structural, electrical and other disciplines on a project
- Engage directly with clients and stakeholders to understand their requirements, deliver fitting outcomes and grow lasting professional relationships
- Check technical work for accuracy, quality, safety and compliance, upholding professional engineering standards in every activity
- Take part in project meetings, design reviews, site inspections and coordination sessions when required
- Offer technical advice and hands-on engineering support to project teams, passing on knowledge that helps colleagues develop
- Help uncover new project opportunities to support business development, while keeping current with engineering practice and driving continuous improvement
Requirements & Eligibility
- A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or a recognised qualification that is equivalent
- Substantial professional experience across engineering consultancy, industrial engineering or mechanical building services
- Demonstrated delivery of projects from the design stage right through to completion
- Strong grounding in mechanical engineering principles and design practices
- Proven ability in technical analysis and problem-solving
- Experience managing projects that differ in scope, complexity and delivery requirements, while balancing competing priorities and meeting agreed deadlines
- Strong communicator who works effectively with clients and project stakeholders and can demonstrably build and maintain professional relationships
- A firm commitment to quality, safety, compliance and practical engineering outcomes
- Works effectively within a collaborative team of professionals
- Commercial awareness, plus an interest in developing client and business opportunities
- Chartered Professional Engineer status or active progress towards chartership is advantageous
- Willing to have qualifications, employment history, professional experience and relevant credentials verified, and brings a professional attitude, commitment to continuous learning and career development, and values aligned with quality, support, flexibility, teamwork and a positive workplace environment
- Meets the requirements to obtain a suitable New Zealand work visa, with sponsorship available for a suitably qualified candidate
