Key Responsibilities
- Provide mental health nursing and clinical care that is high in quality, compassionate and centred on the person
- Complete comprehensive psychiatric and mental health assessments
- Draw up, implement and review care plans tailored to each individual, contributing to case reviews and to planning for care and discharge
- Monitor how patients progress and record clinical notes accurately
- Administer treatments and medication according to clinical guidelines, stepping in with crisis intervention and therapeutic support when needed
- Work in step with psychiatrists, medical officers and the wider multidisciplinary team
- Educate and support patients, their families and carers, including planning for recovery
- Keep patients safe and work within mental health legislation and clinical standards, always ethically and with full confidentiality
- Play a part in quality improvement initiatives and in your own continuing education and professional development
Requirements & Eligibility
- Hold a Bachelor of Nursing (or a recognised equivalent) and current AHPRA registration, listed as a Registered Nurse, or be eligible to obtain registration
- Minimum 2–3 years working in mental health clinical practice or mental health nursing
- In-depth knowledge of mental health care principles and psychiatric assessment, and a sound grasp of the relevant Australian mental health legislation and standards for clinical practice
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and effectiveness as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Strong problem-solving and clinical decision-making, plus dedication to high-quality care centred on the patient
- Holding a postgraduate Mental Health Nursing qualification will be highly regarded
- Prepared to relocate to Australia
