An expanding construction team in Queensland (QLD) needs an accomplished Senior Project Engineer who will own the coordination of each project, give dependable technical direction and play a confident part in getting complex civil works over the line. Applicants are judged on their qualifications, engineering history, the projects they have been exposed to and how well they fit the role.
It is a permanent post on a 2/1 DIDO/BIBO roster. The package combines base salary, superannuation, project uplift, a work vehicle and a KPI bonus.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering coordination on major civil construction projects, backing the Project Manager to deliver safely, efficiently and within agreed timeframes
- Confirm that site activity matches approved drawings, specifications, budgets and project requirements
- Build, monitor and refresh project plans, programs and construction schedules, sequencing construction so works follow approved programs
- Advise project teams and site personnel on technical and engineering questions
- Check civil, structural and services drawings, raising technical issues and driving each query through until it is closed
- Help bring subcontractors and suppliers on board, then keep a close eye on what they deliver, what it costs and how well they perform
- Oversee quality requirements and make sure appropriate quality control procedures are followed
- Help keep project costs and budgets under control, producing monthly financial reports and cost-to-complete forecasts
- Anticipate project risks, construction issues and potential delays
- Liaise closely with project managers, supervisors, subcontractors, suppliers and other stakeholders
- Set the tone for strong safety standards across every project activity
Requirements & Eligibility
- Civil Engineering Degree or an equivalent qualification
- Minimum 7 years' engineering experience in civil infrastructure or construction, including a proven contribution to delivering major civil projects
- Solid command of civil construction methodologies, as well as planning, scheduling and sequencing of works
- Reads civil, structural and services drawings with confidence
- A record of handling technical queries and solving engineering issues
- Has managed budgets for subcontractors and suppliers
- Familiar with quality assurance and quality control systems
- Strong commercial and project management awareness
- Excellent communicator and stakeholder manager, with a demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety
- Able to work a 2/1 DIDO/BIBO roster
- Relevant Australian work rights or eligibility for employer sponsorship, which is available for suitably qualified and experienced candidates
