Project Engineer
Trade · Perth WA, Australia · Full-Time · $80,000/yr
Western Australia has a pipeline of large marine, civil and recreational developments, and this opening gives a Senior Project Engineer or a Project Engineer the chance to apply their construction background to them.
Job titles matter less here than proven, verifiable ability: sound engineering credentials, hands-on site exposure and strong coordination skills, in a team where engineers are given genuine ownership. Day to day you will juggle contractors, handle the interfaces between work packages and head off issues early so delivery stays on track. Good on-the-ground judgement is prized just as much as technical know-how.
International professionals with suitable qualifications, including those working in Dubai, Doha or Riyadh, can be offered work sponsorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer for the construction activities you are assigned and the results they deliver, running day-to-day site work and keeping an eye on progress
- Direct specialist trades, suppliers and subcontractors, and act as the point of contact for consultants, clients, contractors and wider stakeholders
- Contribute to cost control, scheduling and programming
- Handle the interfaces where marine, civil, public realm and structural works meet, supervising specialist scopes like revetments, fender systems and piling, plus landscaping, drainage and related civil works
- Assess what each construction package needs, work out practical ways to deliver it and pursue better efficiency, constructability and outcomes
- Maintain inspection records, HIRACs, ITPs and wider quality documentation, and check that work meets environmental, quality and safety requirements
- Mentor junior and graduate engineering staff
- Keep the project's records accurate and produce progress reporting
Requirements & Eligibility
- Holds a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, or a recognised equivalent
- Project Engineer level: 2–4 years' experience in marine or civil construction. Senior Project Engineer positions: suitable senior experience in construction and delivering projects
- Engineering experience gained on site previously is preferred
- A demonstrated record of coordinating subcontractors and site construction crews
- Understands quality assurance, cost management and the scheduling of projects
- Communicates well and manages stakeholders effectively, with good organisation and documentation
- Can interpret what construction requires and sort out practical problems on site
- Committed to strong safety and quality standards in the workplace
- Proactive, ready to own responsibilities and effective in multidisciplinary teams
- Genuinely interested in building major community-focused and infrastructure projects
