Experienced mining leaders weighing their next international move should note this residential Project Manager appointment with a globally recognised underground mining contractor. The site is a major underground hard rock operation in Ontario, Canada, and the package includes visa sponsorship, relocation assistance, accommodation support, performance incentives and long-term career growth.
You will report to the Operations Manager and carry responsibility for the whole operation: safe, efficient underground delivery, financial performance, client relationships, operational excellence and the development of your workforce. Whether you are currently based in Riyadh, Muscat or elsewhere, it is a considered step for a professional ready to broaden an international leadership career.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the tone on safety through visible leadership, building a strong safety culture and a positive, team-focused workplace that values continuous improvement
- Direct all underground mining activity, covering both development and production
- Meet operational targets safely, efficiently and on budget, driving excellence across safety, productivity and quality
- Own project budgets, forecasting, cost control and overall financial performance
- Track operational performance and introduce continuous improvement initiatives
- Deploy mining equipment and operational resources for maximum productivity
- Build, mentor and grow capable leadership and site teams, and oversee workforce planning, recruitment and succession
- Keep client relationships strong through clear communication and close collaboration
- Spot operational risks early and put practical mitigation strategies in place, keeping the site compliant with mining legislation, company policies and safety systems
- Handle contract administration, reporting and performance monitoring
Requirements & Eligibility
- Extensive hands-on background in underground hard rock mining operations, across both development and production environments
- Prior experience holding a senior site leadership or project management position in mining, including project management and operational reporting
- A Mining Engineering qualification or another relevant tertiary qualification
- Solid track record managing underground mining contracts and the client relationships that go with them
- Proven capability in budgeting, financial management and commercial decision-making
- A demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, supported by excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Thorough understanding of underground mining safety systems and compliance requirements
- Able to relocate internationally
- International mining leadership experience gained previously will be highly regarded
- Holding a Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency or an Underground Supervisor's Certificate of Competency will each be highly regarded
- Familiarity with mining management software will be advantageous
