Roofing professionals and suitable construction workers whose skills can be demonstrated and verified, whether currently on projects in Dubai, Doha or Riyadh, can take a considered step into genuine commercial work in New Zealand with this Hamilton role.
You will join a professional roofing and cladding workforce delivering large-scale projects on modern construction systems. Your existing experience carries real weight in recruitment, and hands-on project work alongside an experienced team helps you build further capability.
Overseas applicants have their trade experience assessed against a genuine employment requirement, with an available sponsorship pathway where eligible. The role is full-time, with competitive pay aligned with experience, ongoing workplace support, health insurance and transport to project sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver commercial roofing installations and the associated construction work, laying materials accurately to each project's requirements
- Study drawings, specifications and site requirements, and work out the materials needed from the plans and conditions on site
- Measure and cut material to fit roof penetrations, vents, corners, ridges and other areas
- Fit and secure edge and ridge flashings
- Place waterproof sheets and roofing underlay correctly, fixing the underlay with suitable methods
- Line up starter sheets precisely, then fasten roofing sheets securely with correct overlaps
- Work with modern roofing, cladding and architectural systems to a consistent standard of workmanship and finish
- Check completed work and put right any installation issues
- Recognise hazards, follow workplace and site safety procedures, and handle roofing tools, equipment and materials safely in a professional, organised work area
- Cooperate productively with supervisors and other construction professionals, travelling to project locations as required
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven roofing experience is preferred, and experienced overseas Roofers may be considered for sponsorship
- A background in commercial roofing or cladding is highly regarded, while construction workers with transferable trade skills may also be considered
- Able to measure, cut and install roofing materials accurately and to read construction drawings and specifications
- A practical grasp of construction site safety
- Close attention to detail and a quality-focused way of working, backed by good practical problem-solving
- Works effectively in a team, with a reliable, committed attitude to employment
- Physically capable of handling roofing and construction duties
- Keen to learn new roofing and cladding techniques
- Willing to travel between project sites when required
- Overseas applicants must satisfy applicable New Zealand employment and immigration requirements
