Site Engineer

Engineers with real site credentials: a well-established infrastructure contractor in the ACT is looking for an experienced Site Engineer to help bring structural concrete and civil projects to life.
You will need hands-on site experience, solid technical knowledge and the ability to keep engineering and quality obligations on track across the whole build, right up to completion. Partnering with project managers and the delivery team, you will play a part in QA, technical coordination, planning, documentation and the daily momentum of the job.
The position opens the door to major infrastructure works and a route toward senior site and project engineering roles, a considered next step for engineers currently on projects in Dubai, Riyadh or Doha.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the engineering side of structural concrete and civil infrastructure work, giving technical backing to supervisors and construction crews on site
- Liaise with project managers, supervisors, crews, head contractors, subcontractors and other stakeholders to align site engineering needs
- Roll out and uphold the project's quality assurance procedures and ITP requirements
- Look after inspection requests, hold and witness points and the associated construction quality records
- Compile and update lot files, conformance records and handover packages, keeping engineering, quality and project paperwork accurate
- Spot non-conformances, document them and help close them out
- Scrutinise construction drawings, structural details and specifications against project requirements, issuing RFIs and resolving technical queries with clients, consultants and contractors
- Give engineering support through reinforcement, formwork and concrete stages, confirming reinforcement is installed to the approved drawings and specifications
- Assist with setting out the site and verifying construction works
- Compare progress with the project program, flag likely delays, and line up the materials, plant and consumables that upcoming site activities require
- Take part in site inspections, coordination meetings and progress reviews
- Contribute to site safety and environmental compliance
- Help the project hit its quality, program and delivery targets while driving continuous improvement in engineering and construction processes
Requirements & Eligibility
- At minimum, 2 years of Australian experience as a Site Engineer on civil infrastructure or structural concrete projects
- A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or another Structural Engineering-related discipline
- Practical, demonstrated understanding of how construction engineering and site delivery work
- Sound command of QA systems, ITPs, inspection processes and construction paperwork, including handling RFIs, technical queries and non-conformances
- Confident reading and interpreting technical specifications and structural drawings
- Clear written and spoken communication, backed by good organisation and documentation habits
- White Card plus a current driver's licence
- Capable of securing the required ACT site inductions and project access clearances
- At ease working productively on live construction sites, bringing reliability and professionalism to project duties
- A collaborative team player who communicates well with stakeholders and is keen to keep learning and developing
- Experience on bridge construction, or with dams, spillways or water infrastructure, is highly regarded
- Having worked with Tier 1 or Tier 2 head contractors is highly regarded
- Exposure to reinforcement scheduling, procurement, fixing supervision and quality control is highly regarded
