An expanding Australian electrical engineering and manufacturing company in Loganholme, Brisbane, is growing its technical team. It builds sophisticated electrical equipment and delivers power-system projects spanning LV, MV and HV infrastructure, and is hiring for two positions:
- Switchboard Electrician, building, testing and commissioning boards and switchrooms
- HV/MV Electrical Engineer, giving engineering support on switchboards and power systems
Key Responsibilities
- Electrician – put LV, MV and HV boards through testing before they ship or are installed, and examine boards and transportable switchrooms to confirm they comply electrically and mechanically
- Electrician – run insulation resistance and continuity tests, along with polarity, phase rotation and earth continuity checks
- Electrician – prove control circuits and operating functions, and confirm protection relays and linked systems work correctly
- Electrician – diagnose and rectify wiring, electrical and functional faults
- Electrician – assemble or alter boards, MCCs and control panels, reading schematics, single line diagrams and wiring drawings as you go
- Electrician – carry out Factory Acceptance Testing, document results and compile commissioning paperwork, keeping everything in line with Australian Standards and the job specification
- Electrician – help install and commission on site, including shutdowns and after-hours commissioning when called for
- Electrician – mentor apprentices and less experienced electrical staff on technical matters
- Engineer – back up engineering work on HV and MV infrastructure such as switchboards, switchgear, substations and transportable electrical systems
- Engineer – play a part in power distribution as well as protection and control projects, checking drawings, specifications and technical documents
- Engineer – assist manufacturing and production teams technically, and team up with testing and commissioning staff to clear technical issues
- Engineer – help shape engineering solutions for industrial and infrastructure work in keeping with Australian Standards and project needs
- Engineer – liaise with project managers, fellow engineers, production and quality teams, digging into technical problems and finding workable answers
- Engineer – push for engineering improvements and project optimisation so complex electrical infrastructure jobs are delivered successfully
Requirements & Eligibility
- Electrician – current Queensland Electrical Work Licence as an Electrical Mechanic or Electrical Fitter
- Electrician – Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician or Electrical Fitting
- Electrician – minimum 3 years in industrial switchboard manufacturing, testing or commissioning
- Electrician – strong practical background on LV switchboards and MCCs, and experience with electrical testing, commissioning and fault finding
- Electrician – MV/HV equipment knowledge or experience will be highly regarded, and industrial control systems experience is advantageous
- Electrician – confident reading schematics, wiring diagrams and single line diagrams
- Electrician – familiar with AS/NZS 61439, AS/NZS 3000 and the relevant Australian Standards
- Electrician – holds current CPR/LVR certification
- Electrician – firmly focused on electrical safety and quality, at home in workshop and site settings, and open to occasional travel for commissioning and project needs
- HV/MV Engineer – Australian registration as an Electrical Engineer
- HV/MV Engineer – minimum 2 years of relevant industry experience, including HV and/or MV electrical systems
- HV/MV Engineer – background with switchboards, switchgear, substations, protection and control or power distribution
- HV/MV Engineer – reads electrical drawings and engineering specifications and understands applicable Australian Standards
- HV/MV Engineer – sharp technical analysis and problem-solving, plus strong written and spoken communication
- HV/MV Engineer – cooperates well with engineering and manufacturing teams and can move between engineering, manufacturing, testing and project settings
- HV/MV Engineer – people currently holding a Subclass 482 visa are welcome to apply
