Warehouse Manager

Mangere, Auckland: an established distribution business needs an accomplished Warehouse Manager to take the lead. The ideal person is a seasoned logistics professional who can point to real leadership, practical operational know-how and steady warehouse results.

Stock and dispatch are only part of it. You would be trusted with people, systems, compliance and logistics partners, keeping every part of the site running efficiently. For warehouse and logistics leaders in Jebel Ali, Dubai or elsewhere in the Gulf, it could be a considered career step.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the smooth running of the warehouse every day, scheduling people and resources to match orders, shipments and shifting priorities
  • Bring on, train and grow supervisors and staff, from hiring and induction to keeping an eye on how each person performs, and keep the team motivated
  • Keep stock records precise, run planned stocktakes and rethink the floor layout to free up storage and use space better
  • Report on DIFOT, KPIs, productivity and service levels
  • Manage devanning of import containers and the receiving that follows, working with Customs, freight and shipping firms and other logistics partners, and carry out MPI Facility Operator or Accredited Person duties where required
  • Make sure digital workflows in the WMS and connected IT platforms stay accurate, and work hand in hand with Sales, Finance, IT and the wider business
  • Manage outside suppliers and service providers, and keep the facility, equipment and resources in proper order
  • Set the standard for Health & Safety and a strong safety culture, and remove inefficiencies with practical improvements
  • Shape a team culture where accountability, teamwork, reliability and continuous improvement are the norm

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A proven track record as a Warehouse Manager, Distribution Manager or senior warehouse professional, having led warehouse teams and operational staff
  • In-depth knowledge of stock accuracy, inventory management and warehouse planning, plus hands-on exposure to international freight, imports and container handling
  • Understanding of MPI processes and New Zealand compliance requirements is advantageous
  • Solid workplace Health & Safety knowledge, applied with genuine practical commitment
  • Excellent people-management and communication skills, decisive problem-solving, and composure when juggling competing priorities in a busy distribution environment
  • A sharp eye for detail and a firm commitment to operational accuracy
  • Good IT capability, including WMS or integrated warehouse systems, gained in paperless or technology-enabled sites, along with commercial awareness of productivity, resource allocation and operating costs
  • Dependable, punctual and professional with high personal standards, and able to supply genuine evidence of qualifications, experience and professional history for verification
  • Must satisfy applicable New Zealand employment, immigration and sponsorship requirements
