Precision, consistency and ownership define this CNC Machinist role with a long-established manufacturer in Sydney, NSW.
Working the evening shift, you would take charge of setting up, programming and operating the CNC machines you know best, with setting and operating forming 70% of the role. The portfolio is varied, balancing production work with prototypes for clients across defence, infrastructure, construction, manufacturing and oil and gas. Experience on any CNC machine will be considered, and the position will be shaped to suit the appointee. Several positions are available.

Key Responsibilities
- Program, set and run an array of CNC machines, notably CNC Mills, CNC Lathes and a Sliding Head Lathe, and refine your CNC programming craft over time
- Arrange tooling and work holdings and prepare jobs for the various machining centres
- Devise work holdings for prototype and production runs
- Conduct final inspection and precise measurement of each manufactured part
- Deliver a considered mix of production and prototype work for clients in manufacturing, oil & gas, construction, defence and infrastructure
Requirements & Eligibility
- 4+ years of experience as a machinist or CNC machinist
- A recent background of 4+ years in programming and setting CNC machines
- Assured in setting and operating CNC machines, which accounts for 70% of the role
- A qualification in Fitting and Turning or a similar trade
- Experience in programming with CAM software
- Strong computer skills, together with experience in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and documents
- A genuine desire to learn and grow, matched with an A++ work ethic
- A collaborative team player for whom "not my job" has no place, equally at home working individually
- Candidates must have the right to work in Australia
- Proficiency with a CAD-CAM would be an advantage
- Proficiency with Fusion360 would be an advantage
- Proficiency with Okuma OSP would be an advantage
