The role is grounded and practical: operating excavators, pumps and small plant with care alongside underground services and live water assets. Reticulation experience is not essential. The team welcomes candidates from civil, infrastructure or trade backgrounds who bring reliability, a practical mindset, a firm focus on safety and an appetite to learn. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate excavators, pumps, small plant and other equipment with care.
  • Work alongside underground services and live water infrastructure.
  • Maintain the water network and troubleshoot faults as they arise.
  • Install, repair and replace water pipes and associated components.
  • Safeguard drinking-water quality during every maintenance and repair task.
  • Take part in on-call and after-hours work.
  • Deliver every task safely and to a high standard.

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Enjoys practical outdoor work, gets stuck in, handles tools and machinery with confidence, troubleshoots faults comfortably and is committed to safe work of a high standard.
  • Operates excavators, diggers and other small plant with safety and competence.
  • Has operated compaction equipment, pumps and water-related machinery.
  • Understands water mains, service connections, valves, hydrants and fittings.
  • Has the ability to install, repair and replace water pipes and associated components.
  • Understands what is required to protect drinking-water quality during maintenance and repairs.
  • Can interpret network plans, drawings and underground service information.
  • A Class 1 Driver Licence, ideally.
  • A positive, can-do attitude, ideally.
  • A strong work ethic and willingness to learn would be an advantage.
  • Good practical and problem-solving skills would be an advantage.
  • The ability to work independently and within a team, ideally.
  • A strong commitment to health and safety, ideally.
  • Good physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors would be an advantage.
  • Flexibility to take part in on-call and after-hours work, ideally.
