For hospitality professionals in Dubai, Doha or Riyadh considering their next move, a highly regarded rooftop bar in central Christchurch, New Zealand is appointing a Duty Manager.

Now in its sixth year, the venue welcomes guests from Tuesday to Sunday, with table service throughout and a menu built around shared plates and seasonal produce. Mondays are reserved for presentation, functions, cocktail competitions and staff training.

The position is permanent and full-time, with a contract of no fewer than 30 hours and rotating closing shifts. It is an evening and weekend role, and Friday and Saturday evenings are fixed commitments. The hourly rate is $28 to $32. Sponsorship is available for the right candidate, and an immediate start can be arranged. Those who commit to the craft are supported with consistent training and growth within the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive guests on arrival and oversee reservations and enquiries
  • Provide attentive service at the table, from orders and upselling to payment
  • Lead the team by example and ensure every guest is satisfied
  • Act as the point of contact for functions
  • Oversee front-of-house costs, overheads and rostering in line with KPIs and targets
  • Conduct front-of-house training and nurture a positive staff culture
  • Manage stock orders and the monthly stocktake
  • Carry out standard opening and closing procedures
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in line with all legal obligations
  • Contribute to new menu development across drinks, recipes, costings and marketing

Requirements & Eligibility

  • At least three years in bar roles
  • Experience delivering cocktails at high volume
  • A valid LCQ and a current Duty Managers Certificate
  • A warm and welcoming presence
  • A positive outlook and a genuine passion for the industry

  • Availability for evening and weekend work, noting that Friday and Saturday evenings are non negotiable
