Mining Engineer (Medium Term Planning)

Visa sponsorship

Engineering · Brisbane, QLD, Australia · Full-Time · Discussed at interview · Visa: Employer sponsored

Whether you currently work in Riyadh, Doha or Dubai, a considered move into Australian underground mining could start with this permanent role. A large-scale zinc-lead-silver operation in Queensland seeks a Mining Engineer to lead medium term planning.

It is a long-life mine with a sophisticated sequence and several active fronts, where development, stoping, ventilation, backfill, services and infrastructure must be carefully orchestrated. You would author the plans and schedules, maintain them with care and refine them over time, so production and development targets are delivered.

The role offers a choice of setting, from a Brisbane base to fly-in fly-out work or residence at the mine. Visa sponsorship is available for suitably qualified candidates.

A refined CV makes your next move easier to present. Set out your degree, underground experience and design software with care, and compose a polished mine planning CV with Build AI CV.

Key Responsibilities

  • Author, maintain and continuously refine the mine plans and schedules that support production and development targets.
  • Interpret Life-of-Mine and long-term planning strategies as practical medium-term mining sequences.
  • Orchestrate stope extraction, development timing, ventilation availability and infrastructure readiness within those sequences.
  • Prepare medium-term sequences in a form that translates into short term plans.

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, or another related subject.
  • Demonstrated hard rock experience underground, preferably with a background in mine planning, scheduling or technical services.
  • Fluency in mine planning and design software such as Surpac, Deswik or an equivalent, applied to stope sequencing, schedule analysis and development planning.
  • A strong command of underground mining methods, production sequencing and development requirements, together with the judgement to interpret operational, geotechnical, ventilation and geological constraints and integrate them into practical mine plans.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for evaluating planning risks, recognising constraints and shaping practical solutions.
